Nepetalactone
A nepetalactone is one of the constituents of essential oil from the catnip plant. When the cats come in contact with nepetalactone then a sudden change of behavior can be seen into them. It makes the cats excited and playful. They may also start to scratch their heads and body, jump, sniff, shake their heads, etc. It is generally considered safe for the cats. A nepetalactone is considered as a very excellent repellent for mosquitoes, cockroaches, etc.
Catmint
Catmint is also known by the name Nepeta, which is a member of the mint family. It is very much convenient to grow the fresh catnips as it may be grown in the indoor gardens also. There is no need of adding any chemicals or pesticides used for the growth of catmint plant. The catmint flowers usually prosper in sunlight or in just a fraction amount of shade. The leaves of the cat mint plant are used to make tea that provides a great deal of relief to the human beings from various diseases and problems.

It is largely used to control some of the common found behaviors or the problems created by the cats. Besides using it on cats, it is also used for treating fever, cold, flu, etc in humans.
