Nothing relaxes a body more than a one cup of tea. A person becomes rejuvenated by taking a cup of tea. A majority of people in the world are in a habit of taking commercially prepared tea. However, the commercially prepared tea contains a substantial amount of caffeine, which is considered harmful for the body. One of the harmful effects of caffeine is that it keeps you awake all over the night, which is not very good for the human beings as our body demands rest for a specific period of time.

A new kind of herbal tea known as catnip tea is getting more popularity nowadays. A catnip tea is prepared after drying the leaves of a particular type of herb or catnip plant known as Nepata Cateria. Catnip tea is also commonly known by various other names such as white tea, herb tea, green tea, mint tea etc. This kind of tea does not have any kind of harmful chemicals and is considered safe for the well being of the human beings. These days, a large number of people are going for catnip tea after considering the hazardous effects of commercially prepared tea. A catnip tea is more popular as health tea in America. The cultivation of catnip tea started in Rome but now it is cultivated largely in various parts of North America. A catnip tea is a rich source of Vitamin C and various other nutrients.

Catnip Tea Recipe
The individuals can make catnip tea can be prepared by adding one or two teaspoons of herb into one cup of the boiling water. After adding the herb, it is covered for ten to fifteen minutes and after that the tea is ready to consume. It is advisable that the adults must take two to three cups of catnip tea per day. For the children having cough and cold must be given a moderate amount of catnip tea.

Effects of Catnip Tea
A catnip tea generally does not harms the human beings. Rather, there are many health benefits of tea that are derived by drinking it. A catnip tea is used as a medicinal tea that helps in soothing toothaches, cough and cold etc. Studies have shown that a catnip tea lowers the risk of skin cancer also. A catnip tea is a great help to those human beings who find it difficult to sleep in the night. It is also a very good stress buster. A catnip tea should be avoided by pregnant women's and breast feeding mothers.

Other Medical uses of Catnip and Catnip Tea
A catnip tea is also used for medicinal purposes also. It is popular as anti-inflammatory agent and known to alleviate some of the common diseases such as insomnia, stress, cramps, digestion problems, etc. It is beneficial for the persons with blood shot eyes. All they have to do is soak a towel in the tea and apply it over the eyes for a few days before sleeping. A catnip can also be used in cuts, wounds etc in order to stop bleeding. Nowadays, catnip is used for various other purposes. A catnip is also added into the salad or various other foods. A catnip is also largely used as mosquito repellents in various countries.
It is advisable that the individuals before consuming catnip tea must take proper recommendation from the doctor.
